About DogToon Books

DogToon Books was inspired by real-life experiences, life at sea, and the unique personalities that both children and dogs share.

Working on board cruise ships for more than 30 years, founder Ram Glick accumulated countless memories and stories. But the experience that ultimately inspired these books was a special behind-the-scenes ship tour for children aged 4–10 that he once hosted.

​

Unlike the many ship tours designed for adult guests, this tour became something truly unique. The children asked imaginative, emotional, and unexpected questions about the crew, the ship, and the people behind the experience. That memory stayed with Ram for years.

​

Years later, after retiring from ship life in late 2023 and moving ashore, Ram found himself living in a neighborhood and community surrounded by dogs of every breed and personality imaginable. Around the same time, he met Gabriela, an artist whose playful dog illustrations perfectly captured different personalities and emotions.

​

Those experiences inspired the creation of DogToon Books, a collection of fun, educational, and personality-driven stories designed for children ages 4–8.

​

Every DogToon character is based on original hand-drawn artwork created by Gaby, bringing warmth, humor, and individuality to every story.
